A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

muse is singing again, bringing me lyrics

"
some have found their silver
though others search for gold
some are hooked on passion
afraid they'll end up cold
.
and some are never satisfied
with a fear of growing old
yet most are quite content it seems
to find an anchor's solid hold
.
in the safety of a harbour
now surely that is priceless
those arms that long to hold you
far better than lost treasure
more valuable than gold

This poem is so beautifully relevant in today's times when most have become so material. Asides from chasing accomplishments, we envy others for the stuff they have and forget to count our loved ones as our biggest blessings. Your words always bring us to great realizations, dear Chris. Thanks for sharing such positivity today.

Safe harbour, safe place. True place we need to find. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome dear Chris.
Indeed a tuneful, rhyming and upbeat look at value systems it seems. I guess there are though exceptions to the rule, those who seek 'troubled water' challenges for example

Pretty fair and fine lines:

"... some are never satisfied
with a fear of growing old..."

Nicely stuffed and captivatingly inked.. in suchness of words. Looking forward to reading your work this noon.

At this point in my life, I'm more a go-getter, existing on a more superficial plane, pursuing all passions. Never content, always restless to push ahead. Yet something in your words tells me that some day, I'll have to take stock and review my priorities. As I've seen powerful men in the end, on their death beds, just so glad and grateful for a loving, comforting touch. Perhaps, thats all that really matters. Golden words, Ms. Chris.

even though all my wedding rings were either silver or white gold...I relate to this one.

dearest Chris... a lovely poem for
Labor Day Weekend 2020...
I read it to Roger who will be 76

perfect poem to read at this particular time

"safety of a Harbour ... with arms to hold you...
far better than lost treasure... more valuable than gold."

what a brilliant work!!! Very truly said that the valuables that we keep on collecting throughout our lives do not stay with us forever..the loved ones and their blessings is what immortal..even though one has everything but still no one to share those things with, he is the most poorest creature and what a pity to such a life.. Short poem giving a lesson as big as our lives :)
