A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

muse is singing again, bringing me lyrics

"
some have found their silver
though others search for gold
some are hooked on passion
afraid they'll end up cold
.
and some are never satisfied
with a fear of growing old
yet most are quite content it seems
to find an anchor's solid hold
.
in the safety of a harbour
now surely that is priceless
those arms that long to hold you
far better than lost treasure
more valuable than gold

This poem is so beautifully relevant in today's times when most have become so material. Asides from chasing accomplishments, we envy others for the stuff they have and forget to count our loved ones as our biggest blessings. Your words always bring us to great realizations, dear Chris. Thanks for sharing such positivity today.

Wisdom is golden. Time is of the essence. Relationships are precious. We need to value the intangible too. The unseen or spiritual world is very real and should be so valuable for we are spirit beings in a body.
You write excellently Chris.

Same to you. You are welcome.
Good rhyming and good insight both in this one. The first verse and a half illustrate the illusions and struggles and pitfalls of those who cling to life's surface, but then we are suddenly connected to solid values. Those who find an anchor in a loving and lasting relationship pass through this journey with more contentment than all the disciples of gold and passion ( Of course, a little gold and sufficient passion have their places, too.).

Wonderful expression in these words. At times one wonders if there is true contentment in this life. ;-} We collect things until there is no space to breathe and wonder where all the room went inside our homes and places.

Love is a treasure in itself. With old age comes wisdom. If only the young could get a quarter of that wisdom at birth.

The real treasures in life are those that can't be bought with gold. Those are our real blessings. Its our loved ones and we live for them. They anchor us and keep us secure always. How beautifully you say it here, dear Chris!

This speaks to me of the comforts of home and hearth and the company of our loved ones. We all chase our treasures and pleasures but ultimately we feel safest in the arms of those we truly love. All material wants can never compare with our emotional needs and that is why we are always drawn to home. Especially so in this crazy, crazy world where safety is paramount. Your muse did a wonderful job with this one!

Yes.
They're better than all those things.
And they're so much more, as well.

Beautiful poem. :)
I love love.
