A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

muse is singing again, bringing me lyrics

"
some have found their silver
though others search for gold
some are hooked on passion
afraid they'll end up cold
.
and some are never satisfied
with a fear of growing old
yet most are quite content it seems
to find an anchor's solid hold
.
in the safety of a harbour
now surely that is priceless
those arms that long to hold you
far better than lost treasure
more valuable than gold

This poem is so beautifully relevant in today's times when most have become so material. Asides from chasing accomplishments, we envy others for the stuff they have and forget to count our loved ones as our biggest blessings. Your words always bring us to great realizations, dear Chris. Thanks for sharing such positivity today.

Profound. The toys we get won't matter but rather who loves us back will define us. Beautiful!

Great subject and title.. Your muse is definitely singing as this sounded as it wrote itself with a knowing voice that flowed ever so smoothly. What matters the most can never be brought. Relationships are certainly more valuable than gold. Meaningful connection with someone is a precious gem. I loved this..

Chris - this is so true. More and more I have come to value the priceless treasure I found so many years ago. Surely there are riches worth more than gold or silver. I really like this.

Take care and be safe - Dave

When you find your safe harbor, you are home....you are with the one who matters and always will. The rhyming here is lyrical. Your words are melodic, Chris. So romantic. Lydi**

To me this poem felt like about family bonds. Money and gold can never compare with the joys of a family and as they say, the love of a family is Life's greatest belssing. Here is where we get unconditional love and sense of security. And of course from a loved one. The safety of the harbor and the arms that long to hold you are all about this for me which makes this poem great for me.

This is near-perfection in rhyme & rhythm & feeling! I love how this is written to honor a steady squeeze, but that could be interpreted as a wide variety of lovers, two- or four-legged, or God, or whatever floats one's boat! I was even thinking the lover could be "routine" -- often what makes many of us feel "at home" no matter what weird stuff a day may bring! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Well penned. It's a human failing, IME, to always be looking for that fantasy. Think, for instance, of treasure hunters -- how many archeological treasures have been lost or destroyed because the treasure hunter only sees value in the gold or gems? For example, Egyptologists have found so many tombs that were devastated while being raided for monetary treasure.

I think there's the same mindset between people and relationships. So many are fixated on the dream romance that they forget that's really only the beginning. The life long treasure of forever is hard work.
