Free Flying

Free Flying

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

lyrical, tirra lirra sings the river as the dandelions shake and shiver

"
there's no need to hurry
there's no need for speed
outside of my cabin
I see a flying stampede

why the great rush now
I can hear myself say
a wild wind is blowing
the blue sky's turned grey

a squall's in the making
all flora a flail
a thousand fair seed heads
in a puff ball exhale

no stopping their scurry
the race has begun
they're chasing each other
and loving the fun

parachuting comes easy
it's how they disperse
they're heading upstream
it could be far worse

don't land in my garden
to settle there please
i want pretty flowers
I've no wish for weeds

dear Chris... wild violets are pretty and no seeds to blow and bloom... they say Dandelion Wine is a possibility, but I would rather have Wine from 🍇 Grapes any day. tenderly, Pat

I like the ending when you asking to let your flowers to be . It's very gentle approach. I know few gardeners who are very rude to grasshoppers and other eaters of green leaves. At this case yellow jackets and black wasps are quite useful . Poem is very light in spirit and poetic expression . It's like glorious morning at middle of cooling summer. Well done.

Send them up here Chris, our national flower is a flippin' thistle, for the very strange reason that the vikings couldn't invade in Scotland because they ran the coastlines... So they went further south and ehm... Sorry. 😀
Our national animal is the unicorn too. I think they should take away the free bar from the person that decides these things before our national bird becomes the phoenix 😀
The para huting would look spectacular, just don't land in Chris' garden or she'll completely lose her sh*t 😀

They come in clouds and destroy all of a gardener's hard work. A bane for carefully tended gardens. Loved this read!

I remember taking a deep breath as a child and sending them parachuting.
The imagery here is perfect.
It's a shame they are thought of as weeds.
At the park, a field of green turns golden when the dandelions come up.

you make weeds sound like they are kings and queens of the world...you just don't want them
in your world.

I like the parachuting idea.
