Queen of Sheen

Queen of Sheen

A Poem by Chris Shaw

in the darkest of heavens
she sails celestial throughout
a silkened black night sky

polished skin gleaming to
pristine perfection
a silver orb suspended

above the silhouettes of
chimneys on sleeping roofs
on guard till dawn

aloof she moves in lunar
light, a blank canvas of
mysterious radiance

a ghostly ship haunting
a vast dark sea, mesmerising
many an admirer's eye

I think I just saw the man on the moon wink after I read this. Well, it's either that or I ned to wash that snudge off my kitchen window.
To be honest, I'm just happy to see he's not avoiding me and hiding behind a blanket of clouds... Maybe the sun will come out to play later too 😀
Beautifully captured Chris. A moment we all recognise and can get lost in.

Perhaps there is a Lady in the Moon.
She keeps things organized during the night and sleeps when she gets the time. So many phases and so little time. Your poetry Chris is like the Moon.. in that it is not always the same and moves about. Gingerly, Pat

How often I've stood in the quiet of the night gazing at the moon and wondering when we humans will eventually settle on its surface. I hope never!

Love your imagery here, Christine. I am always thrilled by pieces of originality and this one has it in spades for me. The Queen of Sheen, cruising the night sky in her ghostly galleon, mesmerising all. It would be a wonderful sight to behold! If she is the night mistress protector of us ladies then she has my adoration and gratitude. Loved this one!

Last night there was just seen small portion of moon lady. I like how she always changing and moving at our eyes. Your words are very sublime very gentle touch of impression in shine of moon. We can read it and still feel it last night at our eyes. I think there is one ancient Chinese poem about moon where is described moon like witnesses of human history and still shining through .

You don't mention her directly once and yet bring her to your readers, wrapped in new, beautiful imagery altogether! An adorable poem on the moon!
