She Walks Through The Veils

She Walks Through The Veils

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

A lyric for lovers of folk music

"
there's no need for shivers
there's no need for fear
her visit is friendly
she loves you my dear

when she crosses the centuries
to break through the veil
she does so with loving
though the telling seems stale

there's something about you
your spirit your face
that lends to her calling
though she leaves with no trace

her silence misleading
her aloofness not meant
for she died for her darling
and her death was well spent

so when you next see her
just ask for her name
so the spirits can guide you
and you'll know why she came

acknowledge you know her
and away she will go
though her memory will linger
yet her presence won't show

Definitely it flows like a song dear Chirs. a fairy? this is the first thing that comes to my mind, though she can be a muse, an ancient loving soul. Could it be even a truth or a revelation. Who cares when the result is sweet and gently loving as this :> there is a tender allure through your lines as we read.

The veil at Europe can be symbol for funeral or wedding. Or here can be use like for both like symbol for sweet bitter taste of life. I think few weeks ago i discover on Youtube English folk band Spirogyra . I don't know if you know them but they have very simulate haunted lyrics. It's kind of sad but not disturbing but beautiful. Yes we can trace it here some old English folk and myths. That last stanza make open ending. Maybe is everything just happy end. It's kind of un clear if this is happy or sad. Like walk in between dry land and sea. It's strange but i like it.

People cower at the prospect of spirits but have we thought they might also crave love? After all, its just another plane of existence, another physical dimension. And they were once human too. So how can the basic element change? Barring a few malevolent ones, most of us are eternally creatures of love. I loved this fascinating poem.

It's my pleasure always, dear friend.
A ghost of someone who had a supreme effect upon you? Once saw my Grandfather after he died. this strikes me as family legends and I like it for that. Listen to Lisa, Lisa by Cat Stevens. Similar vibe. A sort of legend/folk song and very English.

So interesting. At first I thought it was a quality about the same person that was catching up with herself, hence the aloofness and silence. However, 'she died for her darling' had me thinking of an actual death. It troubles me a little that we may not know her name, and if we cannot ask for her then we won't know why she came, nor would we be able to acknowledge her. I think she might be a feeling. A secret, perhaps.

You certainly can put your hand to anything, Chris, even the lilting flavour of an English/Brit born folksong : ' .. ask for her name - so the spirits can guide you - and you'll know why she came.. '

Not the green lady not the right time.. not wiccan nor wild. Intriguing - a myth by chance or continuity? Just read again, amazing foot tapping metre, tho restrained.. great lyrics. Good way to start the day. Happy Thursday, Chris.

Haunting--literally.
The ghostly legend of a mysterious woman who died for her love.
Not a bad way to go.
Impressive work, Christine!

I doubt it's my face and I know it's not my checkbook so I'm thinking its a case of incorrect identification
But it is a very enjoyable bit of rhyme and read
