Men From Manchester

Men From Manchester

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

This should have shown up as six stanzas of three lines. Software on WC churned it out like a scarf :))

"
i found myself content
in a Maltese summer memory
raising my glass to old friends
sipping bacardi on the rocks
floppy sunhat protectively shading
my fair freckled skin
sunbeds white, gleaming bright
playful splashing of polished toes
in cool waters of a pool
those men from Manchester
heading our way, at the ready
with their chat up lines
confident behind their dark glasses
i heard my inner voice say
steady girls steady
what a day that turned out to be
round the clock laughter, till i cried
till the sunset died on us

A snapshot from many moons ago Pennywriter. Thank you for your visit.

Chris
So, that would make the lead chatter-upper the Mancunian candidate? 😀
Some of my best memories are of holidays and all the interesting people and accents you meet. And just like the Mancs you met, most of my favourite ones could barely speak English either. 😀
(Sorry Manchester, but not really)
They must have saw you for a posh sort straight off Chris, what with you talking the proper, like.
Ps... I hate Manchester, does it show? Only place that doesn't like Scots and got told to go home quite aggressively.
Don't worry though, i had my retribution... I support liverpool now 😀
