This reminds me of Dickinson...
"Because I could not stop for death, he kindly stopped for me, the carriage held but just ourselves and immortality...."

yep...let's pack it all up and put it in that carriage .. weight is ours to bear all life long ... let's give it up now ... in our fine finale ;))))))))))))))))) i love this dahlink ... one can see it as dark or light .. i choose the light :)

Much of death's ritual is quite proper, rather formal--unfortunately, culminating in encased worm food.
Let us invest in the immortal human soul; one's physical body does not, at all, fare well.

Your senryu says it all, Chris. Its a depressing last ride at the end of the line. I would prefer a horse drawn carriage to a hearse anyday, though. Not that I will notice the difference. Finely articulated.

soft gallop of horses taking me to a place
where Angels weep and flowers grow...

A senryu that takes me deep into that dark, solemn, final journey. I feel a reverence for the hearse. It marks a fine finale to a life on earth and the beginning of another journey, one we will possibly never understand. Appreciated!
