A Poem by Chris Shaw

tiny shoots of green
appear where
catkins catch
spring sunshine

silver birch bark
gleams where dark wood
pales in background's shyness
barely noticed

bird song beguiles
a symphony of notes
a chorus sent
from heaven

my tree speaks to me
in language I understand
listen as nature calls
to impart her wisdom

after the storm
there will be reflection
after the storm
there will be questions

dear Chris... interesting how questions and reflections seem to go together. The only way for things to be better is to reflect and question.
Nature does sooth our feelings and gives us strength. With Rain and Sunshine... we grow and become the Voice that brings the right decisions to influence those who can change the World. Beautiful poetry. tenderly, Pat

It seems to matter not where we are. The beauty, the panorama of nature abounds and we, who are poets, I believe , appreciate it most of all. Whether me here, or you way across the sea or Margie tucked away in her Pacific solitude, we all seem to love what nature has provided for us. It's grand that we get to explore it's beauty with our words.
Take care - Dave

in poetry I have noticed many common themes in the evolution of write thru the history of the many writers I read... one of the fascinating things I notice is that many of them start writing of nature in there voices the language of nature becomes part of there vernacular. As this poem so plainly displays for me:) In my urban isolation I rarely get to touch these themes but I enjoy them from afar

Colourful shoots catch the eye in the monochrome now of isolation. These little natural wonders may just show us there is light at the end of the tunnel after all. Or is that a train heading straight for me😷

The title drew me in because I always feel I’m searching for answers I’ll never get. And as you put it in your poem, answers and hope shoots anywhere. For anyone. For everyone.

"My institute is worldwide and am student of all" a first line translated from one of my favourite Bangla poems. I felt it so much while reading your poem. Answers can be sought by grasping the language of nature and sometimes we don't even have to ask.
This write is so lovely as you! Love and bless🍀🍀

ah, the garden.
I recently created some tears in our older established garden when I severely trimmed back a paper bark birch.
It is still dripping tears and I feel quite guilty
Fortunately it can't actually speak words to me (does yours?) or I am sure I would be severely chastised!

Very thoughtful and beautiful lines Chris about the annual emergence of life and it's almost inevitable contrast with our present predicament. Getting back to normal is becoming harder to imagine.
Take care .

Where better to go Chris than to nature and all her wisdom to find answers to questions such as you pose. Trees and their saplings have life just as birds and their nestlings so bending an ear we might hear good news after this storm.......... a lovely read - stay well and safe my friend.
