A Poem by Chris Shaw

tiny shoots of green
appear where
catkins catch
spring sunshine

silver birch bark
gleams where dark wood
pales in background's shyness
barely noticed

bird song beguiles
a symphony of notes
a chorus sent
from heaven

my tree speaks to me
in language I understand
listen as nature calls
to impart her wisdom

after the storm
there will be reflection
after the storm
there will be questions

dear Chris... interesting how questions and reflections seem to go together. The only way for things to be better is to reflect and question.
Nature does sooth our feelings and gives us strength. With Rain and Sunshine... we grow and become the Voice that brings the right decisions to influence those who can change the World. Beautiful poetry. tenderly, Pat

This is a truly wonderful poem, with the last strophe or stanza standing out as a real thought-provoking and 'wham-o' ending... "there will be questions" ...oh yes, and well said here! Each stanza leads to the next nicely, and the build of tension and recognition is palpable. That storm is happening now, it's always happening now - the present is where we live, and it's where both questions and answers lie. Nature is our touchstone, our wellspring, and some seem to forget that. You don't. Thank you.

Chris,

You have set to pen of page a most intriguingly contemplative piece of poetry that speaks of the sanctity of Nature whilst stirring profound philosophical thoughts within the hearts and minds of your blissed readers ...

Really like this Chris. Although I've never been to England, or likely to get there, still your poem 'paints' a vivid scene. Well done!

I’ve never seen such exquisite scenes and felt such impressions of nature but from your pen and this poem again breathes with life. As surely as nature speaks, as new shoots spring to life and birds sing their surreal songs, will the present chaos lead to order and the inevitable questions be asked. Their is accountability in nature and it cannot be escaped. A great poem, Ms. Chris, loved this read.

A slice of nature which speak to you, a friend, vividly described in the this excellent poem; searching one's soul....seeking answers; not so easy to do. I like this one very much Chris!
