A Poem by Chris Shaw

a petal pink moon
in empathy
draws closer

her softness
a beacon of light
on the longest of nights

for those who mourn
whose souls are brimful
of dark sadness

a promise
that your sun will rise
with each new day

for surely as dawn
puts to bed the sleepy
starlit heavens

rays of warm healing
will be yours
as time passes

Your lovely poem imparts a whisper of much-needed hope in these hard times Chris. So many of us now facing "the longest of nights"... My younger brother is just now recovering from Coronavirus, thank God. He has been battling it for two months now. It has been two months of these dark nights shared. He is in NY and I'm in Florida...an agony of nights passed. This virus is a fierce beast. But, as you beautifully describe, the sun rises anew with "healing rays" each day and the "petal pink moon" bathes us with empathy. Beautiful thoughts. Beautiful poem. Thank you.

Indeed a soft and sensitive poem of encouragement to those suffering and blighted by these strangest of times.

What an amazing poem in this trying time. Yes nature can heal... If not physically but emotionally, of course. New sun appears with a new hope and the soothing pink moon glow with passion. Thank you so much for this beautiful poem

Thank you dear Sima for all your encouragement.

Chris
dear Chris... once again your poetry has a softness that soothes the
sad souls of loved ones who are at a distance. My husband's sister Priscilla
who lives in New York has stage four of lung cancer. She is a few years
younger and has always been his "baby sister". Since Roger has dialysis three days
a week and now with the Coronavirus... we cannot take the risk of traveling from
Virginia to New York. Pris is resting peacefully at her daughter's home in New York...
with her niece and nephew to color her days with smiles and tender words.
Sending flowers today-- we will ask for pale Pink Roses with Moon glow and think of
your lovely poem that encompasses the years of playing on fields of flowers when they were
children. Pris is an Artist and Novelist whose heart captures the essence of life.
So many people are separated from loved ones at this time of being sequestered until
Heaven's gate opens to a new path where we can fly away and be with loved ones.
tenderly, with prayers, Pat

A beautiful reminder that this will pass and normality, whatever that is, shall return.
One day even, we may just find ourselves enjoying the chaos that normal used to be. The hustle and bustle, the crowds in bars and cafe's and maybe even being bumped into by rude shoppers. Well, we are all a little contact deprived, so you never know.
We should all take a leaf out of your book Chris, and simply enjoy these moments that show us that life does indeed go on.
When the moon or sun doesn't show up is the time to worry. 😀
