Escape

Escape

A Poem by Chris Shaw

do not fret
as darkness comes
catch the cool air
beneath a barn owl's
wings

rising in flight
from a bare branch
bewitched by moonshine
in a forest of
silvered slow motion

an apparition
of white wonder
gliding against the backdrop
of an ink black sky
pitted with sequins

carry me with you
night bird

Only under the cover of night is this type of escape possible. The possibility of everything grows in the dark, good or bad, the escape requires the cover before the light of day shrinks it to man size bits made out or our agreed upon realities. Great writing Chris!

Beautiful poem Chris, made me think of this uncertain time at present in the world. Wishing and wanting to be on that owls back and carrying me off into a better time and place. Filled with magic, calm and tranquilty that life used to hold. And hopefully onces again will soon.

In moments of darkness, the human spirit takes a flight into the beautiful, vast unknown. How stunning and inviting the night sky appears by your words. All my mortal fears fall away and I am ready to take flight. You write so beautifully Chris. I always catch a breath.

Lost to a spell bound time. We all need to run and hide. Every country seems to be down on their Presidents but why. They are not at fault hear. So it seems we all need to escape and this was a Passage through time as if your words gave me a free ticket away from my daily struggles. Thanks.

That beautiful barn own bird has far more than we have at present.. freedom. The flish ofits beating wings, the pale shadow or it ahead or aside of one is magical, spiritual and more. For and to me, your wonderful words suggest that this is what so many of us are needing at present: a place of peace and safety, knowing there are others feeling the same, albeit a metre or more away, but.. not one of us is alone. These words, Chris, is is the ultimate remedy for today. Thank you.

Chris - I'm with you! It would so grand to escape the chaos of the present. To soar away on the wings of the owl enjoying the beauty of the evenings moonlight.
Take care and stay safe - Dave

dear Christine... this is an exquisite poem of
what we are facing as we hover "beneath a barn owl's wings".
The second verse has captured the ominous dark clouds of uncertainty.
We all want to enjoy the rapture of an early morning sunrise where
days are dances of butterflies and wisdom of the ages as we turn the pages.
We sing the song of a sunset with foreboding black skies where sequins lie
in waiting for a brighter day. truly touching our notions of apparitions. as ever, Pat
