maybe it's just as well we don't know when that moment will arrive .. at least most of us don't .. here though, you have not only reminded us of our own mortality, indeed of all things both animate and inanimate, but you have most importantly captured the very essence of life's fragility .. the fleeting and transitory nature of it ............ having got that off my chest, I must also say it's an honour to be #75 on your impressive list of reviewers .. an amazing achievement and most worthy .. Neville

This strikes a mystery in my soul, as though you recently lost someone. Your a loving person your reviews of other authors are kind I sent a friend request but you don't have to read mine. But I wanted to get to know your wark. This was an inspiring peace thanks for sharing it.

Thank you for your kind response. Pleased you enjoyed the read.
there is a season for everything, we are no exception. everything in history was once the present. change is inevitable and time marches on. is it quiet and peaceful or a whirlwind? wonderful imagery and smooth flow whilst driving home its point -
each one of us
a leaf waving
on a deciduous tree
the fight for survival -
though some
wield a sledge hammer
strike a mighty blow
all returns from whence it came to complete the cycle of life ... :)

Thank you Pete for your response. All good wishes.
dearest Chris... your poetry describes the difficult
times of the CoronaVirus ... as we do not know when
we may pass into the great beyond much too soon,
especially for those who are compromised by respiratory or
life-threatening situations... even aging. We should be able to
take our last breath where flowers bloom and people gather
to sing our favorite tunes unencumbered by the darkest days of
an evil era of worry and wait. May we wait at Heaven Gate as long as
wishes are made when stars shine bright. truly, Pat

Beautiful poem, Chris. The opening line is so powerful - "The sun shines regardless of grief". We might not want it to, but the world will always move on, even when it feels like time has stopped for us. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Derek. I appreciate your thoughts. All good wishes.
I found your reference to 'a leaf waving
on a deciduous tree' just perfect . It says everything as to how transient and delicate our lives really are. No match to the force of flow of the river that will eventually sweep everyone away.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
