Revival

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Back to classical

"
Farewell to winter's gloomy days
for spring brings lighter hours
and bulbs that slept beneath cold earth
burst forth in comely flowers.
Up from the dark our snowdrops creep
their white bells coyly ringing
while daffodils in frilly frocks
sway to the blackbirds singing.
Away the freeze, come soon some warmth
my bones I feel them aching
and like my garden I too search
for sun to soothe my waking.

My internet freaked as I previously "reviewed," so I messaged you my brutally honest thoughts. Here is the public version that also is important:

Awesome theme, well written. Like me, you have a "way with words" that speaks deeply and sure. Nice pacing also. My internal reader sped and slowed, rose and fell, feeling warmth and chill. I am seated in your garden - I witness the struggle between the early blooms and the frost that tries to hide them.

From where I come, we have troublesome winters and equally troublesome summers. But what remains evergreen is the vegetation. Different sorts in different climates. And the variety is beautiful.
But I can totally understand what it feels like to have a disgustingly frosty and bleak winter. And also sympathize with your anticipation of spring. The poem though amazing as always.💙

That's all very well and good for you Chris, but did you take into consideration, that from South to North, Spring travels at 8 miles per day?
So where others see this as a beautiful reprieve from harshest winter, i see 6 to 8 more bloody weeks of it!
Beautiful words all the same though😀

I'm entering into Autumn, but this made me feel like the wonderful Spring was coming again. I could feel the warmth and the flowers starting to come out. It was a great poem

we changed the clocks last night....more daylight now, maybe more love....and what makes our gardens grow?
not being contrary, but being full of care...i know how much your garden means to you...and spring with its blooming does seem to squelch the aching in my bones as well.
