Revival

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Back to classical

"
Farewell to winter's gloomy days
for spring brings lighter hours
and bulbs that slept beneath cold earth
burst forth in comely flowers.
Up from the dark our snowdrops creep
their white bells coyly ringing
while daffodils in frilly frocks
sway to the blackbirds singing.
Away the freeze, come soon some warmth
my bones I feel them aching
and like my garden I too search
for sun to soothe my waking.

My internet freaked as I previously "reviewed," so I messaged you my brutally honest thoughts. Here is the public version that also is important:

Awesome theme, well written. Like me, you have a "way with words" that speaks deeply and sure. Nice pacing also. My internal reader sped and slowed, rose and fell, feeling warmth and chill. I am seated in your garden - I witness the struggle between the early blooms and the frost that tries to hide them.

I love when you write in this form Chris:)
I am reading in the light of the hopes of suns warmth pon us all right now when the end of this Virus opens the world up in a new dawn:) with a little hope and gratitude and a different perspective about just what is truly important and not selfishness and petty needs and wants but real things like loving your fellow man and taking care of this planet before a pestilence we can not wait out occurs!
but a smiling Chris and a happy garden I'll take those any day for a start:)

Another lovely portrait imbued with the soul of nature itself. The playful dance and jingle of the flowers. The peace and triumph of breaking through the earth to reach the sun.

This subject feels so natural in the classical style, Chris. It hearkens back to the mind connected to nature through the natural rhythms of earth. We’ve lost a bit of that connection, but a poem like this makes it feel natural and intuitive and I’d like to get lost in a field of bowing and bobbing narcissus.

Lovely work; portrait to escape into. Hope the sun begins to warm you soon. We’ve had summer temps already and it feels a bit mad. But I am grateful for the sun.

Spring bursting forth with daffodils in fluffy frocks... Flip flops and violets. There is a sense of vulnerability when Spring is in the Aire. truly, Pat

Love this, beautiful flow and a picture of hope. I love the in between seasons: spring and autumn. It is a beautiful autumn day here in my corner if the world. So perfect it is hard to imagine the hardship of elsewhere... at least for a moment.

Very elegantly written, and I adore the word choice in here. You're reviving rhymes along with the revival of life and frolic that the coming of spring foreshadows.

Lovely poem. The words seem to flit about like small birds enjoying the new spring sun. I too feel like things are starting to wake up around and inside me with the coming of the new season. I'm not old by no means, but the winter seems to get harsher to me with every year. This was a nice bit of sunshine to read after a cold front came in yesterday. All the best to you.

A lovely, creative and quite elegant portrayal of how most of us feel at Winter's long, drawn-out ending.
Spring! Mother Nature's appointed time for playing dress-up.
Strut your stuff, baby!
