Quest For Perfection

(make your mind up)

not content with the quickest of fixes
an application of pretty pink lipstick
or a coat or two of slick nail polish

some dames invest far further
maxing out their shocked credit cards
to purchase a full kissable pout

or heavily defined threaded eyebrows
permanent dark tinted long eye lashes
a tattoo or two inked on body parts

not to mention bleaching of teeth
gleaming brighter than virgin snow
to flash winter white at all and sundry

a botox shot can hide laughter lines
can fill in the odd imperfections
or braver still consult a plastic surgeon

who will enhance those curvaceous parts
add emphasis and a few cup sizes to
those twin peaks filled with silicon gel

as derrieres are currently in fashion
plump up those plummy cushions
of fleshy non dimpled soft seating

what happened to natural beauty
seems it's died a dreadful death
takes time and money to be fake

I haven't even mentioned tanning
or hair extensions yet and I bet
I've missed a few others

and it cost not one red cent to be natural...and that is the best beauty of them all....
many hide behind a facade....a fake smile, a fake look because they don't trust that their real one will be good enough....
if only we could love ourselves enough to just present the truth.

couldn't help but snicker as i read. i have often thought that such women (with their faux war paint and such) are artificial. i would much rather appreciate a woman's god-given beauty. there is perfection in imperfection which cannot be duplicated. is bigger really better? clever, down to earth write chris that reminds us to stay grounded ... :)

If whomever a woman is involved with does not accept aging's natural wear-and-tear, it's time

But in the end our true friends will judge us on our behavior and attitude, more than on our physical appearance. Nobody is, or will become perfect. I think you got if all Anne. Nevertheless beauty depends on the person id say.
For me i think natural is the best, but that doesn't mean that's the right choice for some people. Everything depends on somebody's happiness.

Im not fond of too much surgery, if you have something you'd want to fix than it's all good. But making yourself like a plastic doll and saying you're happy, i don't think so.

The quest for ithe mplausible in all it's vanity filled guises. To looklike a polished mannequin without crease nor blemish, fearful of smiling in case a laughter line appears.
Can you imagine the nightmare of tryong to get into the loo on the same day a preener uses it, barricaded in for fear of being seen without their mask?
Okay, i admit i have not a mirror in the house, i broke them like shrek does when he looks into them, but then again, I'll never be yesterdays news story of a brazilian butt lift vanity death (actually read that story yesterday and she was 20 ffs!)
If you ain't happy how you look at 20, then you have one hellish journey on your hands.
Now if you'll excuse me, i must moisturise this wizened old shell before i turn more prune like. It may betouch and go, i only have half a barrel left 😀

Yes, those Brazilian butt lifts are the biscuit. And there's me saying to him indoors, does my bum look big in this. To think there are some out there who want the answer to be yes. Chris - Hooray for you! I can't understand why so many cannot seem to appreciate the natural beauty they have been gifted with. Personally I'm not opposed to tattoos, but for the life of me I cannot understand why a woman with what anyone might consider a beautiful body would choose to cover large portions of it with a tattoo or tattoos.

Definitely relevant for today. I feel so fortunate to have been just old enough not to have had a childhood with access to social media. No telling what kind of influence that would have had on my mind; being a teenager is hard enough. All it takes is a strategic pose, a deceptive angle, and some makeup to look like an entirely different person on a post online--and not everyone realizes this, especially the younger ones. If we all look the same, where's the beauty in that? I really like this piece.
