Sky View

Sky View

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(Inspired by a photograph of Vermont in the fall)

"
let me rise in an envelope
of heated air, a gentle ascent

a passenger in an air balloon
peering over a wicker basket

set to drift in an azure sky
unbroken hue of deepest blue

Vermont's forests spread wide
thick with a mix of rich vibrancy

leaves flutter their lashes
embarrassed petticoats all aflame

a daring medley of vermillion
splashed with green, daubed in gold

while the waters of a silent lake
duplicate all that my eyes could have seen

i may not get to go there
though I wish that I had been

This is really nice, beautiful imagery. Seeing through your eyes at a picture, leaves me jealous that I lack the the grace and understanding to see it the same way. I may have to send you pics of some of my extended family so I wont have to view them with such distaste. Lol

Another vivid imagery. Never been to Vermont, now I want to go even more. I'm in North Carolina and Pennsylvania is as far Northeast as I have ever been, but it seemed the countryside along I-95 just got more and more beautiful the further we drove. My dream is to make it to Maine someday.

thank you for this Chris....i was back on the beach of Tickle Naked Pond in Ryegate, looking at the beautiful mountain maples and the clear, cool, lake water.

Indeed you have captured in technicolour that photograph and the emotions it provoked in you in this lovely flowing piece Chris.

Beautiful! The lines that really danced for me are:

"leaves flutter their lashes
embarrassed petticoats all aflame"

I can just see the demure flirt of lashes on the blushing face of a shy girl. Very sweet.

I like how you wrote this in verse of two lines each, the vision clear, with words that softly speak.

Well done.
