Sky View

(Inspired by a photograph of Vermont in the fall)

let me rise in an envelope
of heated air, a gentle ascent

a passenger in an air balloon
peering over a wicker basket

set to drift in an azure sky
unbroken hue of deepest blue

Vermont's forests spread wide
thick with a mix of rich vibrancy

leaves flutter their lashes
embarrassed petticoats all aflame

a daring medley of vermillion
splashed with green, daubed in gold

while the waters of a silent lake
duplicate all that my eyes could have seen

i may not get to go there
though I wish that I had been

This is really nice, beautiful imagery. Seeing through your eyes at a picture, leaves me jealous that I lack the the grace and understanding to see it the same way. I may have to send you pics of some of my extended family so I wont have to view them with such distaste. Lol

People in vermont are very lucky, although I'm sure they their share of high taxes. The colors of fall are vibrant and colorful enough to inspire any poet thousands of miles away just from photographs.

rain today for us most likely ..wind out of the North and brings hints of winter ;) makes me feel peppy :) we go to get away a bit on a vacation and the chores have no mercy to they :{ and the longer we "relax" on our get aways ... the louder they start to scream :)

Oh yes, and they are certainly screaming at me now :)) We may have wet, but we don't have wind or cold, and I am thankful for that. I have an eye on my garden as I write this and I am thinking, what a mess. I need to get out there when the rain stops. Plenty of leaves down and my flowering baskets of the summer are looking most unhappy. Wrap up warm in that north wind. Sending you some warm wishes.

my older daughter went up in a hot air balloon once ..she was invited by her boss at the time ... about 15 balloons lifted off .. some kind of balloon day .. i still feel proud of her courage and sense of adventure in doing that ... never been in one me self ...

I think it takes courage too. I'm not one for heights so I have to imagine this stuff. Mountain tops and balloon trips are for my poetic side :)

Wow! Now, that's a wonderful image. Never been to Vermont, but have sure seen many a calendar page adorned with the states' magnificent fall foliage. Down here in the south, our maples, sweet gums and a few other varieties will put on colors if the weather conditions are right. How about England?

We have colour but not the intensity of the reds and deep oranges. It:s still very pretty Sam but not like Vermont. That looks spectacular. Hope all is good with you and thanks for your visit.
