New Shoots

New Shoots

A Poem by Chris Shaw

September sun has slipped from sight,
in rich delight a sky allures.
She wears a shade of crimson rose
that floods the river as he flows.
I find my thoughts return to you.

In solitude there comes a swell,
a tide of warmth that rushes in.
Its sweetness heady like a scent
for love is wondrous when it's meant.
I find my thoughts return to you.

You tiptoe softly on my soul,
while cosy in your mother's womb
and you for me are heaven sent.
I love you with my heart's content.
I find my thoughts return to you.

When you arrive what happiness
will bless us with your tiny ways.
November days will gift us spring.
New life, new shoots, new everything.
I find my thoughts return to you.

A lovely prospect to look forward to by you, Chris! The joy and anticipation of a new baby are some of the most exciting days to experience. Everything is fresh and possible and before you. That new presence brings so much to every day.

Congratulations! I enjoyed the structure of this. It reminded me of a villanelle with the repeated line. You are always good at structured poetry. I should try harder at that.

A lovely poem. Makes me happy to read.

Yes . . . the first command of God . . . "go forth and populate the earth." And in the doing what joy it brings to all who are aware enough of the miracle of life.

What a beautiful write. I may be wrong, but I get the impression you are writing of the expected arrival of a new baby, What a joyous way you speak of its expectation.

Thank you and take care - Dave

You leave us here with nothing to say... one would not want to say anything but to keep dwelling in the gentle kind glamor You've weaved for us, around us, around our hearts and beings, one of You finest pieces from those which I've read till now, my very favorite, one will think of the Love they have for someone, and at the same time, one will think of Love for God above, will think of Love that is abounding everywhere at any minute... a generous special piece, a masterpiece of Divine. Thank You Chris for such a majestic pen and poetry You delight, satisfy and bless us with ❤️️.

The miracle of birth... nourishment from Mother...
taking what is needed to form a person who will

with silent sighs... preparing for an entrance to be

O! Congratulations! I'm reminded of Luke 12:7: “But every hair of the hairs of your heads is numbered, therefore you shall not be afraid, because you are better than a multitude of sparrows.” That you have written this before the birth is so very special. How excited you must be for November's spring.
