A beautiful poem, Chris. I love the way you've taken a scene and translated it for us. Your powers of observation make it all feel quite magical. Like the experience of seeing something for the first time. A thing we always hold in the catalog of our memory.
I'm becoming very curious about this river you've been visiting...your poems make it feel radiant and peaceful. On another note, I especially like the style you've used here. The formatting with all little letters and the wandering of free verse. It suits the scene and musings well.
This is somewhere I'd love to be this morning. Lovely.

It has beautiful scenery and does flow through the city of London to the sea. Our journey last week was downstream to Windsor and then upstream to Henley. I appreciate your lovely review.
I so much love the pictures you paint with your writing. I easily picture in my mind the quiet calm and serenity of the scenes of which you write so beautifully.
Take care - Dave

Great when the weather is fine, but when it turns moody I know the damage that can occur. Pleased you enjoyed my river when it was behaving. Thank you for your valued visit.

It was clean and narrow. I used to kayak up and down it. In the spring I was privy to nesting owls and in the summer evenings thousands of fireflies lighting up the bordering shrubs. I am blessed for having had such an opportunity. Your beautiful poem brought back so many memories.

Good spot for a house when there is a river close by. I love the wild life too, so much to see. Mary you should write a poem about your own river. It sounds wonderful.
Nothing better than a good dose of happiness in the morning. Regardless of what happens after that, it is likely to be easier to handle. Done in your master painters style, this is a wonderful read this morning.

There is a real connection between art and water. Oceans, rivers, lakes not to mention all the types of perception. It just asks us to create.
I love the trip you just lead me on.

That is really good to know Cherrie. Thank you so much for this visit.
Very descriptive and lovely poem. Sort of reminds me of Han River when I would camp there for a day with friends.

What a beautiful story lines,
That keeps the mind wishing for more.
Fairy or reality, imagination or visible.
All I feel is like being at the scene,
At least for just a few seconds.
' behold my glory - morning happiness - my story ... '
What a beautifully calm flow of writing, Chris - so very appropriate for its theme. Your words and their layout do amazingly visual honour to the great river Thames. Sighhhing. :)

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
