Healing Green

Healing Green

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(Boating muses)

"
Give praise to all in colours green
that in full glory line the banks.
Give thanks to all those willow trees
which cascade gently dip their tips
into the water's cooling flow.

And to the upright rowan tree
whose leaves provide a canopy
that overhangs the river's rim,
where cows retreat in summer heat
to bathe and drink in welcome shade.

From deepest, darkest scented pine
to hues of happy hooker green
and tints that show a hint of sun,
each one harmonic full of life
a slice of nature's giving grace.

Onwards as I pass by meadows
their grasses fresh and newly mown,
I can not fail to comprehend
that green's a gift that heaven sent
which speaks contentment lifts low mood.

"happy hooker green" i love that phrase...
this is really peaceful....and two things gave me reminders...the cows remind me of Vermont, my favorite times there with the cows, milking them and running through the pastures. But also willow trees....when i was a kid, our neighbor had a willow tree in his back yard...he gave my dad a branch from it and my dad planted it...the neighbor's tree died...our tree grew up over the roof of their garage...irony eh?

you really capture a snapshot with your words, Chris.
