Cocktails At Sunset

Cocktails At Sunset

A Poem by Chris Shaw

On the deck of Caryl Anna
Sipping Alabama Slammers
Eyes in awe of setting sun

Flamingo pink greets violet hues
Shots of darkest petrol blues
Surrounding islands in the sky

Reflections on Marina's water
Not a ripple there to alter
All that's peace and harmony

Ducks are dozing, birdsong absent
Heavy is the sound of silence
As the day makes way for night.

Flows like a "waves' song" to my ears, once more your amazing skill at painting with words, allowed me not only to imagine the scene, but to live it too. your emotions are clear in my heart that I was able to be there with You too, in a serene wistfulness ambiance. B.T.W, it's sunset here, no more perfect time to read your graceful words :>

read it twice .. really enjoyed the imaging and the ............................ "silence" ahhhhhhhh .. especially appreciate this line:
"Shots of darkest petrol blues" ... petrol blue .. genius my dear .. simply genius .. who would ever put gas on water to a very serene and easily romantic moment .. love it! and that color is so unique .. no other way to say it really ... i also especially appreciate the play on the word "shot" ... shots and slammers .. rises up me Irish :))))))))))))) beautiful poem says i!

The title says it all. A hammock and the soothing sounds of your environment. Watching the boats come in with the daily catch. Everything about this is easy on the soul.

I love this Chris, but do you mind a suggestion? I am thinking maybe you're explaining a touch much (as I do, too, too often) with "reflections on Marina's water." Perhaps say instead, clouds float on Marina's water, and let the reader figure out that the mountains are in the sky because of the reflection, as well?
