i think the metaphors are deep and scaring ... and on the concrete side of the floods .. whew! the midwest has suffered so much this year :( Zeus ... a horrid abusive god .. angry and striking out .. with out a care nor conscience for pain caused ... i am glad you are pulling these out from your archives Chris! all well worth the reading says i! your style of tight quatrains and loose rhymes works says i! easy flow .. no stumbles for me! abuse always relevant and has need for exposure says i!

Everything else is wet at the moment. Lots of rain and it sounds as though you have had your fair share of inclement weather too. Zeus, yes a nasty God. Pleased you enjoyed this oldie out for a breath of June air. Would ya believe it the sun has just come out:) Have a great day and thanks for checking in.

Not sure how old this one is but the rhyming queens voice has definitely emerged in it:) the rain will never cleanse the stains of her disdains as we pay for his prey and pray for clear days:)

Once again, I'm in awe of you for your breadth of writing topics! You pull something out like "Zeus" & some may not know the background of this symbolic God, but your context fills in so many gaps in what your readers might or might not know, so your allegory POPS! Sometimes, there are so many tragedies & wars & other hate-filled interactions around the world, I feel as if the spirit of Zeus is a deluge that's inundating many, as described so vividly in your poem (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

The gods have much to say these days, they point their fingers at demeanours dangerous.. send furies and fantasies flowing across land and the living. A dreadful time that events when the elements create friction.. mixed and mauedl by Humankind in many circumstances. Your writing here is full of truth, metaphor and vital intelligence, Chris.. truly first class writing.. YET AGAIN!

Many thanks Em for your encouragement. Happy Sunday.
This poem reminds me of Congreve’s phrase, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” I suppose there’s a male equivalent, too. No matter the actors, the play seems to have the same tragic end. Well said, Chris.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
