The theme of your poem is a "hobby horse" of mine. It's not only the fantasy of poets that love is the greatest force there is, but an actual reality.
The comet, its trail, and the seeds are all great metaphors. The tone of the poem is also one of its strengths - in my opinion. The quiet recognition of the brevity of life, and its acceptance are no small feats. However, we won't really disappear without a trace if we plant and grow with love.

Many thanks Laz for stopping by. Appreciating your thoughts.
Never a truer thought expressed, we have to have hope that any bad seeds sown will be smothered by the good and love will prevail even in the hardest of times..

Many thanks Stella, l very much like your response here.
Love is the thread that runs through all religions, and it’s obvious why. Every succeeding generation’s existence depends on love, intimate and otherwise. Well said, Chris.

Thank you for calling Mr Ray. Your review much appreciated. All good wishes.
A real gem, Chris. And a real treat, finding this as the first stop on my return to WC. It is witty, succinct, and well rhymed and imaged -- especially line 2. Indeed, the choices we make and the gifts we bestow are often key to contentment in later life. Sadly, love freely given but harshly forsaken can break a heart. We humans can only do our best in good faith. Without lost love and loneliness, poets and songwriters would be disarmed. Well done.

How true this is Chris, love and feelings may be fleeting like our lives on this planet. And what does it all mean, in between? Life is the choices we make in many ways, often determined by our feelings, love being the strongest of all.
Lovely imagery

Sadly, sometimes I feel even love isn't enough... but you're right, time does move swiftly and all that matters is how we lived in the end.
Nice flow here :)

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
