Love's Legacy

Love's Legacy

A Poem by Chris Shaw

How fleeting is the comet's flare
which trails ablaze through dark night sky?
How swiftly moves our time on earth
before we part with sad goodbyes?
And in-between, what does it mean?
It all concerns the seeds we sow.
For love and love alone ensures
the worth of all we choose to grow.

The theme of your poem is a "hobby horse" of mine. It's not only the fantasy of poets that love is the greatest force there is, but an actual reality.
The comet, its trail, and the seeds are all great metaphors. The tone of the poem is also one of its strengths - in my opinion. The quiet recognition of the brevity of life, and its acceptance are no small feats. However, we won't really disappear without a trace if we plant and grow with love.

It seems You get my sadness today that You are featuring this one dear Chris. your heart was consumed with sadness when You wrote this. and it's ok. Sometimes we know we have no choice but to let it be and feel it all. You tugged at my heart with this one and You have my tears for it. Love You 🌹💕

Sowing the seeds of love and friendship is where our efforts should be....in my opinion. If there is true love then, we can withstand almost anything. I love this little poem that says so much in so few words. Nicely done, Chris!!

A perfect octave I think Chris, 8 lines of 8 syllabubbles, cascading like a waterfall.
A very nice meaningful poem with excellent rhyming (the internal rhyming at line 5 is so clever).
I am sure that you will be proud to put your name to 'Love's Legacy'.

Kind regards, Alan
