Early Bird

Early Bird

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(one from the archives, out for an airing)

"
It's the newness of the morning,
that breaking part of dawn.
A sun that rises in the east,
the dew upon the lawn.
It's the whisper of the ivy
as it trembles on the breeze
or the early greeting from my cat
who nuzzles up to please.

It's the singing of my kettle,
the welcome taste of tea,
sweet comfort of my bathroom robe
that snuggles close to me.
It's contentment that I'm on my own
and that I've found the key,
while others heavy in their sleep
miss out on poetry.

very right on and most enjoyable
Just a couple of corrections!
That should be dog,(small white) not cat
That should be coffee, not tea
In spite of these mainly middlin issues a really nice offering which rates up very near or top of your many treasures

I'm so glad I didn't miss out this morning! This is a treasure to behold in my early hours with my coffee and my thoughts this morn. I am sneaking in a few before the others arise and I must get ready for physical therapy. I almost forgot how magical the twilight could be with poetry:) Thank you for the share!
