Sunrise from Gull Haven

Sunrise from Gull Haven

A Poem by Chris Shaw

low sun on the horizon
in slow motion
serenely through dawn sky
dolphins, arched backs
black and graceful
swim in pink deep sea
interspersed with gold surf
don't leave me
don't leave me lonely

I am a mermaid I can't leave my dolphins and whales lonely... nor the sea, nor the interspersed sun... awa! dear Chris, your last two lines haunted me... they leave such a sentimental effect on the reader, like the sincerest, truest most gentlest plea.... an ethereal little piece.

A little excitement in the peace of dawn, but such serenely lovely creatures
;; I love to watch them, but never tried to swim with them, love the moon’s reflection upon the water and the gold surf….
Thank you for sharing Chris.

Such a serene write. A deepness is found in these lines. It gave me a feeling of peace. Then the endless had a sadness to it.
Nicely penned.

low sun reflecting golden on the surf must have been a beautiful setting in which to watch the dolphins,
but a new day is dawning so perhaps your loneliness will dissapate with the view of a new canvas ...

Just short of word of what to say.
I can see the imagination having its precious way.
Thought, feeling and emotion,
tell how much an heart ache.
loneliness is not a world to always stay.
I wish the dolphins don't go away.

The scene seems serene until the pleas at the end hinting at inner turmoil.
Perhaps this is the first new day6 after a loved one has passed away. The start of days moving on without this person. This is what I get from it. Perhaps because I have lost so many too soon and very recently.

I love how your imagery splashes with vivid strokes & seaworthy ebbs & flows . . . leaving us with your ending plea, which could be interpreted in many different ways. I'm feeling a person surrounded by life & activity, yet isolated from all that (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

We all need an escape mechanism Margie. Cloud formations are one of mine. I am a cloud gazer :)
What's a "pink deep sea"?

Hello David. Talking clouds here. This is all about pictures in the sky.

Chris
how we want to hold those special moments ..our connection with nature around us so seemingly perfect ... one of the strongest pushes for human beings to paint, sculpt and best of all ;) write poetry :)))))) as to the plea in closing .. how can Ol' Sol refuse you

I love the picture that formed in my mind whilst reading your work. I am always fascinated with how writers take inspiration in fleeting moments like this and make them alive for the readers. I guess I should go out and see the sunrise more often. Amazing work Christine.
