Shades of Purple

Shades of Purple

A Poem by Chris Shaw

As dusk descends on purple fields
where you and I meet in our dreams,
where lavender exudes its calm,
we walk the seams, take in the scent.
Admire the pink and violet sky
and know this is no sad lament.
We've walked here many times before,
for you and I go hand in hand.
No need for tears or fond farewells,
for here we've found a place where we
can rest for all eternity.

I am a smell person...and this smelled lovely. Ohhh to have that one place, that one spot where you can ground yourself out with the companionship of another. I have one, its doesn't look or smell quite the same as this one, but I definitely have one. thanks for the stroll Christine!!

Reminds me of seeing purple Heather in Scotland that shimmers its colour onto any other plantlife nearby like trees and bushes, leaving an ethereal glow, but that's the problem with touring Scotland, there be so much purty stuff to look at you have to stop and pull over every two minutes.
I also recall Billy Connolly doing a bit about lavender fields in France meany to be so calming, but the people working the fields looked anything but calm as they collected and sweated half their body weight, although saying that they probably got a brilliant night's kip every night! 😃
A beautifully painted picture your mind has drawn in words.

absolutely beautiful. describing this heavenly purple place, a dreamland, as a setting where we can reunite with those we love is divine writing. colours seem more vibant in sleep and you've really capture the surrealness of this. and i envy how you have found a love that lasts a lifetime, that even when apart the universe pulls you both back together.

This is beautiful. I love the visual colours, but also the idea of a meeting place in which people can be themselves, together, either in our subconscious minds or away from reality perhaps.

This conjures up a lot of feelings about mortality. Lovely imagery. It seemed to come from a pretty deep place perhaps of loss or grief.

This one has a sensual appeal, engaging several of the senses, but I get the feeling the emotional content is the primary factor here. The speaker appears to be addressing someone who has departed; they are meeting in the sanctuary of the mind, where they will "rest for all eternity." Of course, the landscape may be real, a place where they walked when they were physically together. It the feeling, however, that is most important. A moving piece.
