Into The Light

Into The Light

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(from the archives)

"
As I gaze on crystal beauty
in the noon-day blazing light,
I see diamonds dance on water,
their small clusters sparkle bright.
How they glint on rippled river
while the sun burns overhead.
All the glory of earth's garden
at my feet so finely spread.

Keep this memory, it's so precious,
lock it deep inside the mind.
Shake it out in times of darkness,
when despair can strike out blind.
Share it with those others grieving,
let it lead them to the light.
Ease the hurts of sorrow bleeding,
broken in the blackened night.

I believe verse 1 is a scene taken from life. I like very much the way the poet uses it as a metaphor for life's essential goodness in verse 2. In difficult times, sometimes the simplest image from the natural world, when recalled at the right time, can help see one through the darkness. The alternative is to be overwhelmed by the bleakness. Very nice.

Aloha dear friend, there is a power in these words that hug you warmly in a full embrace. Nature can soothe the pain just by being. I’ve found that I retreat at times when I am struggling with missing my husband. A word in season. Many Mahalo x

Can't agree more . . . the creation brings us back into some sanity . . . if only we truly see it. Which reminds of a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson . . . "Truly, very few persons can see nature."

yes, nature soothes, but we also have the power to soothe each other just by being human, loving and less selfish....
as was a theme in Field of Dreams...."ease his pain"----

eloquent stringing together of images and rhythm...

An excellent advertisement for the power of nature as a soother, a healer. Written in a lovely lilting melody of a poem.

Thank you and for the Red tulips. Most welcome :)
I think it takes practice to be able to recall memories that bring tranquility to our thoughts. To avoid the trap of negative thinking when times get rough. I could use some sparkling waters on earth's gardens sometimes.
