Oblivious

Oblivious

A Poem by Chris Shaw

If you slow down sufficiently
you may see droplets of rainfall
on leaves of red orach
as you pass by.
If you slow down sufficiently
you might listen to the shrill whistles
of Red Kites as they soar overhead
in a blue forget me not sky.
If you slow down sufficiently
you could brush my lips
with the whisper of your breath.
Why don't you try?
If you stop in your tracks
search my green eyes like a map
you should catch a glimpse of my soul
buried in the breeze of a sigh.

A simply lovely plea for attention and love. So well set out in this lovely free verse which in its clipped short track speaks volumes Chris. What a soul to discover! Feisty and full of promise.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
