Hmm, now you've got me thinking. Well, if you were to invite someone, it would have to be someone who can speak as well as listen, or you wouldn't see nature at play in that fine setting, so that rules me out. I wouldnt shut up until you told me your top 32 ice cream flavours, then I would move on to top 12 coffees, so thats me out. Donald Trump perhaps...in the hope you have a basement that can be filled with quick dry cement, after cutting his ridiculous hair off first. Na, too much trouble. Maybe you could just group chat writerscafe friends on skype, and if anyone bores you, you could vote off the weakest link until you have one ideal guest left.
There, sorted! :)

So pleased to see this old poem got an airing again. I really enjoyed writing it and contemplating all the people who I could sit with. All good wishes.
I may sound silly, but your use of "conjure" adds a creepy presence to the poem; I directly recalled the "conjuring" movie and assumed that you're talking necromancy. But I must warn you, what's dead should stay dead.
Sorry for running the beauty of this poem. I thought of sharing that crazy thought with you. It's so beautiful. You're good.

An elegant poetic question.

Lovely sentiments, Chris.

I loved your rhyming tree so to speak and I loved the actual poetry of what you wrote.
Oblivious to birds in song
or butterflies in flight
or daisies yawning in the grass
as dusk paves way for night. (This was my favorite passage) Thanks for a great read.

I would choose my Dad, for I was so young when I lost him, and vaguely remember anything about him. Spring brings such an awakening to our senses, rekindling memories we've packed away through the cold of winters past. I loved your daisies yawning in the grass, Chris!

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
