Sing Me A Song Of Warmer Days

Sing Me A Song Of Warmer Days

A Poem by Chris Shaw

Through winter's cold and dreary months,
when black ice clings to hardened ground.
When snowdrifts linger in the fields,
when frost will kiss the thorny hedge.

When all around is stark and bare
and sounds of spring are far away.
I ask you sing a song for me
and play along on your guitar?

Remind me that the seasons pass,
that chills and shivers do not last.
For soon the soothing, warming sun
will come again and bring its cheer.

All frozen days will melt away
and you my love will still be here.

The harshness of some seasons robs life of its love. We never quit hoping that the love of our life stays on through sickness and adversity. So relatable are your feelings here, Chris. The description of the starkness of winter is very vivid and adds to the weight of the message. Another great poem from you, Chris.

love warms the world...during these months, and we are having black ice tonight, I listen to oldies that were summer songs...Beach Boys, surf music...some of the ice melts. This poem melts much of it as well...as i think of an old friend playing her guitar...and how special our friendship was...

We have had frost warnings here at night, with lows getting down to 32 degrees. That's cold for California! I even had to bring my succulents inside for fear the frost would do them in. I love seasonal pieces. No matter how the winds blow, there is always something inviting about the way it makes you feel.

This is EXACTLY where I'm at, as January draws to a close. Last evening, I looked out & realized it's REALLY LIGHT at 5 pm now! Yippee! That's the point where I know I'm going to survive another winter. And I'm not up there where you are, closer to the arctic circle! *wink! wink!* As always, you do details like a butterfly floating along & kissing each observation to us (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Good poem Chris, like the stark contrast from the bitter cold of winter to the warmth and glow of summertime. The Ying and Yang of the seasons.
