Bridge With No Name

Bridge With No Name

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Birthing a memory

"
Between two bridges grand and arched
a third now spans the mighty Thames
where Christchurch Meadows, lush with green
displays last summer's grief in rain.
In autumn sun, she stands serene,
her burnished steel ablaze and bright.
A mast that peaks, a mountain high.

Here you and I dear sister plan
to walk and birth a memory.

Pedestrians and cyclists too,
will cross today, 'neath wide eyed blue
to view this river at its best.
In years to come our kin will say,
our loved ones crossed the bridge that day,
they saw the ribbon cut in two,
permitting all to travel through.

to write a poetry on a bridge takes strength and you done it so well. past and present all included showing the importance of the matter. the inclusions of users just added to the reasons of this bridge being vita ie pedestrians cyclists. the predictions of people looking back at this bridge shows the how much it means to you and the fact it had no name and this is in the tittle of your poetry is the icing on the cake as it is sort of saying it has no name suggesting it is not used or important. this review has to close like London bridge and I can tell you this poem is heading to the palace as it is a diamond to read.

I have always been fascinated by bridges. Being from New Jersey my favorite is the George Washington Bridge. While I was just dating my now wife I watched them putting the lower deck on it, what a sight to behold!
Its' been several years since my wife and I were in London and I'm not sure the bridge you wrote of was there yet. We were there the year summer after Princess Dis' death. We crossed over the London Bridge many times and loved it.
I took several pictures of the gardens at Kensington Palace and later in my classroom put up colored chalk pictures of the gardens.

Take care - Dave

Chris,
I love the imagery in the beginning. Lush with green, She stands serene, burnished steel ablaze and bright(my favorite). Landmarks always store our memories, just drive by one nd the stories flow through our brain. Your poem was well written and I enjoyed it
Peace and Joy,

Happy New Year my dear,
I happened upon your poem by chance. It is very powerful Chris. I love the strong words and symmetry. The images are strong as well and the words reach out and touch you. (In a nice way.) Have a great day and a wonderful new year. Take care, Earl

So warm and endearing. A man made land mark still in tune with nature and humankind alike. Creating feelings of something with substance and permanence. A place to create and relive fond memories. Bridging reality and metaphysical. I know you said you wish you started writing poetry earlier in life but I think you fail to see how your late bloom has given your works much more wisdom, thoughtfulness, and discipline. It reads wonderful.

It seems these bridge projects take longer, cost more, and have ever more difficulties while under construction
All fades away as the ribbon is cut
