Through the Skylight

Through the Skylight

A Poem by Chris Shaw

I have loved the stars with fondness,
with passion and delight,
so when I lie here sleepless
I am thankful for their light,
that spangles in the Heavens
and has done all my life.

To those eyes that wink in darkness,
that enter in my room,
that chase away the demons,
the worries and the gloom,
I am thankful for your company
and the shadows you consume.

Through the skylight you are welcome,
at any time of year.
No need to seek an invite
as I'm grateful you appear
and the value that I place on you
is priceless, that is clear.

dearest Chris... Stars are wishes waiting to be granted...
shining in the Heavens where loved ones dream.
And when they fall... we recall the Splendor of it all.
Perfect lullaby when Angels sing and bluebells ring in
melodies of the rising Sun. tenderly, Pat

Chris
for sure one can get
lost in gazing at the
star's dazzling light
it's a lunar night show
hypnotic to the senses
making our troubles
disappear in a flash

lovely poem here; Chris

So beautifully written, dear Chris. If I could, I would watch the stars all night. But being a very sleepy cat I doze off quickly. I think you're lucky to have that beautiful starlight. The stars twinkle and they're God's ways of assuring you that all is right with the world. A cool silvery awning encrusted with stars is the best thing ever to chase away the doom and gloom. Loved this poem absolutely!

Drinking it now Ditzy. My dear one brought me a cuppa in bed :)) Have a lovely day.
The sheer delight and protection, comfort and most importantly feeling less alone when seeing such magnificent awe in the skies above us. Loved the line " Through the skylight you are welcome,
at any time of year.
No need to seek an invite
as I'm grateful you appear
and the value that I place on you
is priceless, that is clear." Marcus Aurelius said once " Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them." Such intensity behind the words which makes poetry ....life. Keep writing sincerely your friend in writing and life :)

As one of the founders of Surrealism, Andre Breton once said:
Below the stars there's nothing worth looking at.

A lovey piece of writing, Christine, of pondering, of magic:

"To those eyes that wink in darkness,
that enter in my room,
that chase away the demons,
the worries and the gloom,
I am thankful for your company
and the shadows you consume"

Bravo, Poet!

My pleasure!
Beautifully written, Chris.
It's a lovely experience to have a good company that can stand by us in time of gloominess, nothingness and pain. Whose present would turn pain to pleasure, boredom to liveliness, and shine his/her light through our darkness.

Well done, Chris. It is always good to get away from the light pollution of the cities to a place where the stars are easily visible. The view is breathtaking and awe inspiring. I have read that there are more stars in the heavens than all the grains of sand on earth...more than one or two for sure.

Laying there staring up at a star filled sky...sublime.
