Through the Skylight

Through the Skylight

A Poem by Chris Shaw

I have loved the stars with fondness,
with passion and delight,
so when I lie here sleepless
I am thankful for their light,
that spangles in the Heavens
and has done all my life.

To those eyes that wink in darkness,
that enter in my room,
that chase away the demons,
the worries and the gloom,
I am thankful for your company
and the shadows you consume.

Through the skylight you are welcome,
at any time of year.
No need to seek an invite
as I'm grateful you appear
and the value that I place on you
is priceless, that is clear.

dearest Chris... Stars are wishes waiting to be granted...
shining in the Heavens where loved ones dream.
And when they fall... we recall the Splendor of it all.
Perfect lullaby when Angels sing and bluebells ring in
melodies of the rising Sun. tenderly, Pat

We have no skylight to view the stars
But come to live here my dear
Open the curtains and stand by the window
To look over the dark landscape
To the distant hills
Stars - and - moon
maybe the odd cottage window light

I will view them differently from now on

A very sincere piece that actually says the protagonist has to seek comfort in the arms of nature's night!
Another flowing poem.

There is something exhilerating about a starry sky! Don't know why but it reminds me of Van Gogh's painting. Of course that was a starry night on steroids!

What a lovely ode to the stars, and yes how much pleasure they can bring in those still moments at nightime when we are alone and contemplating the day.
I cannot imagine a night sky devoid of moon or stars ...

How beautiful is that?! I can just visualise the stars and I will think of your poem when I gaze up into a dark night sky.

Stars are my second most favourite thing on the sky ;) There's definitely something soothing about stargazing, I think.

Sky rays indeed do a great help in shooing away the demons. Haha I loved the imagery. It's like I relished visualising it.
