Autumn Encore

Autumn Encore

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(captured 30 seconds of this majesty, to bring out in the winter months)

"
On camera I have captured
the last of ochre leaves,
on the long brushwood strands
of the birch, whipped into a frenzy
by a boisterous gust.
Silver limbs creak, bend and shake,
rays of morning glory pour forth
like a spotlight
in the theatre of my garden.
My tree is bathed in gold,
her encore magnifique.
I stand and applaud
leaf fall heavy at my feet.

for me this is similar to applauding one who does "not go gentle into that good night"

maybe someone fighting a disease, gripping the tree of life until that last gust is just too much...but that person shows true color in the fight...like the maples in autumn.
love this piece

You have Mother Nature doing her magic right in your garden! What a breathtakingly beautiful time it is for all those who have marked seasons! Our fall season is a little damp and that is a relief after the heat of summer.

It's entirely my pleasure, C.
Some scenes are so breathtaking that all you can do is stand and take it all in with awe and appreciation.
Your poem paints a wonderful picture.

Nature plays out it’s breathtaking drama in your garden. I love the silver and gold hues that Autumn takes on in its final bid to last out as long as it can. To die beautifully, to recede gracefully, to accept inevitable loss is a lesson we can learn from nature. A great poem, Chris!

Despite the beauty of the colours of autumn, I still look forward to the warmth of summer and the pleasure it gives me. I do, however, like your prose.

You are very welcome, however, I'm more a story person than a poetry fan. I still like your style.

Spring is wonderful, especially after a long cold winter, but the colors of Autumn, with all the shades of different colors, and the sun which is still willing and warm, are an amazing display

What a sight it must have been to behold, seeing the sun join in and add a touch of elegance to natures already impressive display. I wonder if you'll be tempted to rake them up and run through them kicking, before doing it like a grown up :)

What an encore that deserves repeated applause where beautiful imagery is captured in the celebration of this month magnifique. What falls will be one with the earth and what follows will dance in oneness with nature.
