A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(little tango is the common name for a plant with tiny tangerine coloured petals)

"
little tango on the deck table
shivers from last night's frost,
a spark of welcome brightness
in my winter world,
in a week cold, with farewells
and sadness

beside her are unplanted bulbs,
i am promised one hundred days
of spring flowers,
one hundred days of vibrant colour
if I bury them,
if I confine them to darkness
with a hope they surface

and then, there is the packet
of cherished forget me not seeds
that i will save for warmer days
so they will self seed and multiply,

Colour anf brightness are so required to lift our spirits of a cold and frosty morn, it reminds us that despite the gloom, their is still colour to be sought.
And a forget me not promise to end, tying up this piece in a pretty red bow...or should that be orange? :)

Colours of beautiful flowers that give comfort, warmth and love. When the darkness and cold cometh and takes over. These dainty flowers fill the heart, mind and soul. With upbeat spirits of joy and thankfulness.

Loved this poem. The tangerines and yellows brighten us on these cold, frosty days, heading into Winter. Your poem gives us an artist's pallet that is representative of the bright colors of the various gardener's seeds. Is Jen a relative? Thanks for sharing this, Christine. :-)

Oh, I see. Either way it's a great poem about the approaching Winter season.
What a sad and uplifting piece all at the same time and what a great promise. The flowers are the perfect symbol of the fragility of life and love. Great piece Christine!!!

makes me think of how there's a plant for every season and how they all take turns in the garden to try and out do the others if it's by flowers, berries, scent or bark colour. The verse regarding the bag of bulbs reminds me of when I "found" a bag of yellow tulips at work that we were supposed to plant...and it found it's way to my house...I had 2500 yellow tulip bulbs to plant in my garden..pain in the backside to do but it looked lovely when they all came through. Thanks for sharing
