Venus Visits

Venus Visits

A Poem by Chris Shaw

Beyond the view of waning moon
suspended in a pre-dawn sky,
I searched for sequin studded stars.

Alas their presence was concealed,
though near appeared a planet bright
revealed serene in argent light.

The vast and open heavens drew
a crescent smile from sleepy moon
attracting planet's rounded eye.

And there they stayed in harmony,
content to be in company
till daybreak chased the dark away.

I too love gazing at the stars. The moon, of course is a favorite, but for constancy Venus is so beautiful. Having a telescope it is a treat to see both of these far from city lights. I'm treated with the availability of a farmhouse, in the countryside, that lets me see best on the darkest of nights. Your poetry captures much of the beauty I get to see on such nights.

Take care - Dave

Oh, Christine, this is absolutely perfect for someone who is into sky gazing. Like astronomy. As you capture the essence of it all.
