What's This Then?

What's This Then?

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(Don't it just get ya when you think there's half a packet left, when there's none?)

"
It may not be of consequence,
a trifle petty some might say,
but why are empty packets here
instead of being thrown away?
Is it too much to ask of you
now you have helped your hungry selves
to throw away the evidence
you leave for me upon the shelves?

It's not that I want you to starve,
the food is there for all to eat.
If you have munched the lonely last
of custard creams or shredded wheat,
or any other brands we use,
please take the wrappings and dispense
them neatly in the nearest bin
before my tongue will cause offence.

(asking nicely)

I won't lie....I do become too lazy sometimes to throw away the empty packets of groceries such as lentil, spices...but not always cause mother can never tolerate such carelessness of mine...she wakes up early in the morning and unlocks our main gate and collects every empty packet to peelings into a bucket so that the cleaners can easily take all the garbage stuff to the truck....
Love and respect towards your writings....they're always motivating!
Be blessed :)

Being currently employed as a cleaner I know how this feels. 6 bins in the canteen and stuff still left on the tables even though they have to walk past them as they leave the room to start their shifts

I get this and am probably more of a culprit at times than a helpful hand. I enjoyed this Chris

You naughty little hare, but good on ya for owning up :))

Chris
Thankfully, I've never done that, although I may have left an empty bag of chocolate chip cookies on a shelf once. :)

This is so funny and at the same time I felt guilty, lol got to stop doing this myself, since I'm the one that has to clean it up anyways at a later date. You can turn anything into a poem, and a pretty decent one at that! Always a fan of your words,
Kee xoxo.

Someone's got kids! I remember wrestling with the same issues. We had a pitcher in our fridge, just used for koolaid. The person who finished it was supposed to make more. Think that last little bit was EVER gone? Nope...
Thanks for the memory, Christine, now that my youngest "baby" is 43!
