Blue NudeA Poem by Chris ShawPablo Picasso 1902
Forlorn she sits for all to see,
a nude embracing both her knees. Does she regress in time to find a place of comfort, peace of mind and feelings of security? In mourning for a friend's demise, his brush conveys his deepest thoughts. On canvas caught in colour blue, a single shade of lights and darks. In blended textures, finest strokes, he fails to cloak his misery. Picasso's artwork screams out loud, depression is the blackest cloud. It blots out sunlight, brings despair and traps its victims in a snare.
