Thought Flight

Thought Flight

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(A poem written for a friend from a photograph)

"
This tranquil scene you've made your own,
where you can lose yourself in thought,
where river willows bend in breeze,
where trees reach tall to touch the sky
and glassy waters pass on by.

I stood there on the bridge today,
watched graceful swans in pairs glide past.
Though autumn russets will not last
and ochre hues give way to views
of winter and its icy stare.

I felt your presence hover there,
I knew you'd travelled in your dreams.
Whatever season of the year,
this place will bring you peace of mind,
you'll find what you are looking for.

What's more, when seen at dead of night,
when lamplight shoots its amber glow
across the calm and blackened flow,
there's no where else I'd rather be,
there's no where else I need to go.

Absolutely wonderful, Christine.

Your poem overflows with the peaceful serenity we experience when thinking of friends, lovers or relatives as we stand on a bridge absorbing all nature's treasures.

This was an excellent write and a pleasure to read. :)

There are people who might be physically absent from our lives but - with only a hint from or of him/her, one seems to be able to feel that person. Tis something special that wraps around. Lost we are without.. .. Your words really sing.. and linger, Chris.

These words are longing personified, . '.. there's no where else I'd rather be, ~ there's no where else I need to go.'

What a lovely scene you paint
Peace full with trailing willow trees bending to touch the gentle waters
Swans swimming past so gracefully they move
By night the lamp light glisten upon the ripples
A place to dwell on memories of time past
With more to follow

Christine - I've been away and I'm sorry that, so far, I've missed some of your beautiful writing, such as this.
I appreciate the calm and the love you feel expressing the calm before the approaching change of seasons.
Thank you - Dave

Some places we need to be.
What's more, when seen at dead of night,
when lamplight shoots its amber glow
across the calm and blackened flow,
there's no where else I'd rather be,
there's no where else I need to go."
I love the above lines. Thank you dear Chris for sharing the amazing poetry.

I love your work and you are welcome Chris.
This is beautiful Christine, and all the more impressive for being written from an image.
It reminds me of myspace (what?) where I was in a writing group and really enjoyed the daily challenges they set, one of which was a choice of images to write about.
I didn't win many, but enjoyed the challenge. I miss myspace. Simpler times :)
