Herb Garden Blues

Herb Garden Blues

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(A bit of garden fun)

"
My aromatic rosemary
beware of creeping lemon balm.
It's clear to me he's fond of you
I'm sure he doesn't mean you harm.
Take tea with him, he'll calm those nerves,
no less my friend than you deserve.

Advise him that you've had enough,
you're not his little bit of fluff
and warn him should he not take heed,
you'll needle him and do it well.
Tell him that his rampant spread
has taken over all the bed.

Short and pointed, get it right,
retreat or else you'll stand and fight.

How funny. I can relate as I have this german chamomile that (as a packet of seeds given to me free by a mail order company) takes over my herb box year after year and has to be ripped out. I would completely eliminate it if the chickens didnt like it so much. You created a witty and humorous, but intelligent poem. Bravo. CD

Hard to retreat sometimes. Anger make us stand our ground. I used the herbs for illness for thirty years. One day. I will plant me a herbal garden. Thank you Chris for sharing your words and your thoughts.

A rampant garden bed with a sonnet come upon it?
It's those seedy types again
