Cassie's Song

Cassie's Song

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(Cassie is a name I used for many years on other poetry sites, after my initials)

"
Inside the bathtub, hear me sing
of all the joy that love can bring,
while disappointments and life's pain
in soapy waters find the drain.

Like thistledown we're blown away,
here this morning, but gone next day.
Though on our passage passing through
we take the rough with all the smooth.

So all that's left when we pass on,
a glint of gold in summer sun
the total sum of all we were

This is just glorious, Christine! To think we leave a ray of sunshine when we leave this earth....so sweet. We are here and gone all too soon and that's why we need to drink in the "wonderfulness" of each day. I also like the concept of troubles going down the drain with the bubbles in the bath. Just a joyous write with flawless rhyming. Lydi**

"Like thistledown we're blown away,

The ephemeral nature of life is captured in these beautiful lines. Though most of us understand this, dear Chris, staying joyful is yet an art, a conscious choice of the wise. It is tough sometimes but worth it every time. Great rhyming and flow too...appreciated very much!

When telling the crowd at the Sermon on the Mount about how valuable they, as God's human sons and daughters, were to their heavenly Father,Jesus, in Luke 12:28, says, "If God so clothes the wild grass, which is here today, and tomorrow is cut down and thrown into the oven"...
This was brought back to me when I read your words about 'thistledown, here this morning, but gone the next day'
A splendid poem..
