Autumn came quickly to Michigan. One day very hot and the next. Rainy and cold days. You and I live in similar type weather. Michigan four seasons are wonderful. Thank you Chris for sharing the amazing poetry.

Earlier in the week, very cool and nights were cold, but it is heating up again and as I write this response to you the sun is sliding out from the cloud and it is warming up a treat. Looks like it's going to be a wonderful afternoon. Thanks Coyote. Never know what to call you, Coyote, Johnnie. What suits you best my friend?
Its hard to believe it is that time of year again, after last year cancelled all seasons but winter and then us actually having a summer to shour about this year. IT'S JUST NOT FAIR. I'M NOT PLAYING ANY MORE :)
I do love autumn though, the crispness of the air, crunching through the leaves that at the first sight of rain wll resemble soggy cornflakes.
Sometimes we can see the beauty of the seasons and sometimes we feel them. I think I have figured out their true meaning though, as mood setters, that get us through the harshness, looking forward to the softness of spring.
And now that I have sorted that little conundrum, I think its time for breakfast. I think i'll skip cornflakes though.
Beautifully written Chris. Its it the fragility we see or the fragility we feel that strikes this chord?

However, some seasons play havoc with my emotions. I don't like what I feel. Autumn and winter do that to me. I like the feelings I experience in spring and summer. rebirth and growth. Not decay and dying. I love the sound of crunchy nut cornflakes. As soon as you put milk on them, you've lost it. I just sit their admiring their colour :)) Thank you for checking in.

I have been to too many autumn funerals to count and will no doubt do so again. My reply to it is to do most of my hiking and hillwalking in these months, as it is more of an achievement when faced with cold and rain, that it keeps you going just to get it over with quicker. And it gives you a reason to leave city life behind for a few days.
September is a calling to me for what's to come, for the next three months each mark the passing of my parents and older sister. As joyful as I am for the holidays to begin, it always reigns down with a certain melancholy for what I've lost. You have a lovely poetic voice here, Chris!

I feel that about January, which marks my Dad and my maternal Nan's deaths. Anniversaries are always difficult. Thank you for checking in Kelly. All good wishes to you
How beautifully bittersweet. It is such a gorgeous season, yet somehow it hovers like coming death to life and warmth. I am learning to embrace it, but in your words I can sense the sadness that floods you as life begins to let go.

Decay and death, autumn and winter. All seasons have their beauty, it is how they make me feel inside, and that is hard to come to terms with sometimes. Thank you for your thoughtful and sensitive response Craig.
Many times our summers take over autumn, especially now. The summer fog is gone and the temperatures have risen. Our seasons are confusingly backwards at times.

It's the middle of September and here in Minnesota it's going to be 90 degrees F today (32 C).
Ridiculous, and your poem makes me want my fall season now!
Well done Chris, I could see the dew on that web.

We are getting cooler mornings and chilly evenings. Autumn's here for sure, even though there is still some warmth in the sun during the day. I don't like the fading of the light either. Darkness coming much earlier in the evening. Thank you for your kind response.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
