A Triumph of Love

A Triumph of Love

A Poem by Chris Shaw

Without a doubt she is to me
a source of all that's light and bright,
so when she filters through the veil
which separates our distant worlds,
I welcome her with open arms.

Like toast which melts spread butter's heart,
or cocoa topped with whipped up cream,
she soothes and comforts, calms the mind.
Her kindness, patience, lipstick breath
has not been lost to thoughtless death.

And while I live, then so does she
I hear her whisper in my ear,
I hear her wisdom when its sought
and if I hold my hand to air
I swear our fingers softly touch.

Eva I thank you, hold you dear,
pretend at times that you're still here.
It's effortless recalling you,
the time we shared has downstream passed
but all that love was built to last.

Emotionally and nicely penned.
I personally like the comparison with toast and cocoa.
Well done!!!!

Have lost so many dear friends and close relatives; there have been days that's all I think about.
A lovely, elegant and deeply touching piece of work, Chris.

Pleasant and uplifting read. Thanks!
A lovely eulogy for Eva, a dear friend,
and the influence she had on you, Chris
deep memories that continue to speak
although she's passed on into that long sleep
from which we will one day hope to awake.

There are some people whose memory is both effortless and (mostly) painless as their presence overpowers their death. You captured that feeling very well here. She'll continue to live on through you and everyone she touched

Such tender, beautiful glimpses that make every memory a part of this sacred moment. The love shared, given and taken, it lives on deeply, and now we all share her radiance.

Beautifully written Chris. A love that forever lives in us, oblivious of time or distance, growing within us and making us better people in the process. A love unconditional of where we are, but helped to get us there.
Superb.
