So Who Will Be My Company?A Poem by Chris Shaw
Listen, can you hear the trickle of crystal
while white water lilies look on? A fountain bubbles and percolates close to their floating home. Blooms open to smile in warm sunlight, to delight in the company of butterflies, whose winged pathway flits between lavender and shrubs of aromatic rosemary Nicotiana proudly stands on guard, purple flower heads profuse. In all their glory they nod politely to the petunias at their feet. I wish you were here seated with me, amid blackbirds and bumbling bees inhaling the highly scented summer air without a care in the world.
