So Who Will Be My Company?

So Who Will Be My Company?

A Poem by Chris Shaw

Listen, can you hear the trickle of crystal
while white water lilies look on?
A fountain bubbles and percolates
close to their floating home.
Blooms open to smile in warm sunlight,
to delight in the company of butterflies,
whose winged pathway flits between lavender
and shrubs of aromatic rosemary
Nicotiana proudly stands on guard,
purple flower heads profuse.
In all their glory they nod politely
to the petunias at their feet.
I wish you were here seated with me,
amid blackbirds and bumbling bees
inhaling the highly scented summer air
without a care in the world.

Today me and the Grandchildren off to the lake. Nice place to relax and enjoy always. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

This makes me wish I was sitting there with you. A lovely, lovely poem that gets to the heart of what nature can offer us for free if we only take the time.

The summer at its most glorious and colourful best. It must be such a visual treat. All and everything rejoices in the warmth and blooms to glory. The water lillies, the fountains, the butterflies and the blackbirds and bumbling bees, each a miracle of nature. Loved them all. Enjoy the summer, Chris.

Thank you Wild Rose. Blackbirds have the most beautiful song don't they?
