Lavender Fields

Lavender Fields

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

( breathe it all in and relax)

"
One day I'll walk in lavender,
hip deep amid the scented fields
where flower heads on long spiked stems
look up at me. A white hat shields

my sight from blazing sun. My skin
aglow from heat and on my arm
a wicker basket filled with blooms
will add to all the fragrant charm.

And all that I can see ahead,
a never ending purple sheet.
A sea, alive with working bees,
a royal carpet at my feet.

And who will be my company?
My dear I hope it will be you.
That you will see what I can see,
there's poetry in morning dew.

Your lyrical poem brings back all the reasons I’m in love with my humongous lavender bush that I can see from my computer spot here! I love puttering in the garden & catching a whiff. All the bees in the county are gathered around – it’s all exactly as you’ve penned it! *smile* Your ending sentiments are as sweet as each succulent drop of morning dew! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Wonderful words and beautiful poetic painting of expressive writing - a fabulous read! Lavender oil is believed to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to heal minor burns and bug bites. Research suggests that it may be useful for treating anxiety, insomnia, depression, and restlessness. So - your walk reveals more than just a pleasant stroll, it reflects the importance of the herb! :-)

Lavender and rosemary are the two plants lovers of life should have in his/her garden/on balcony/yard - wherever! Their perfume hits the senses, ligers, satisfieds.. and i speak as someone who would have dirty hands for a living!!!

Your words are so wonderfully written, Chris, can tell by the way you've danced them that you know where and how they should be. Such a fortunate ''you' to share that 'poetry in morning dew' - what a perfect thought! Thank you for sharing your graphic yet calming description. xx
