Spilt MilkA Poem by Chris Shaw
If I ponder ever afters,
steamy loving, days of laughter. Long and drawn out perfect kisses, partnered bliss in sheets of silk, please be honest, please be truthful are they destined from the outset? Will they end in total failure, nothing better than spilt milk? Are they sad or are they happy, give and take or mostly snappy? Do those awkward nasty tantrums simply need a little fix? Or are they monumental chasms, gaping wounds of mass destruction, torn apart and left in rubble, once a wall that's lost its bricks? When I question all those partings and the tears that cascade freely, I can see an ocean forming from the drama and the fights. Choose with care, repent at leisure, pleasure doesn't last forever, haste can bring a lake of sorrow and a sack of sleepless nights.
