Watch My Lips

(A bit of fun)

At times we take for granted,

the gifts bestowed at birth.

It's not until we lose them

we understand their worth.

I bellowed as a baby,

was vocal as a child,

tried cadence for seduction,

screamed out when I was wild.

Last week my voice turned weary,

it whispered and grew weak.

For days now I've been silent,

a mouse without a squeak.

My loved ones are all smiling,

believe it's kind of cute,

that she who's always talking,

is now completely mute.

Frustrated by my prison,

with thoughts I can't release,

God help the ones who mock me,

the ones enjoying peace.

For when I'm back to normal,

I swear I will repay,

my tongue will do some whipping,

and then they'll rue the day.

Thanks Em, it lasted about two weeks before my voice came back. I did see the funny side of it and soon adapted to sign and body language, much to everyone's amusement.

Sometimes I like to mock people just to see what kind of tongue whipping they can come up with. I like to think it's just for fun and/or an intellectual exercise but I'm starting to think I'm just an emotional vampire.

That's so sick! I lost my voice for a whole month. It drove me absolutely crazy. I went completely mute. It really makes you appreciate the fact that God gave you a voice and in a heartbeat he can take it away from you.
