Watch My Lips

Watch My Lips

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(A bit of fun)

"
At times we take for granted,
the gifts bestowed at birth.
It's not until we lose them
we understand their worth.

I bellowed as a baby,
was vocal as a child,
tried cadence for seduction,
screamed out when I was wild.

Last week my voice turned weary,
it whispered and grew weak.
For days now I've been silent,
a mouse without a squeak.

My loved ones are all smiling,
believe it's kind of cute,
that she who's always talking,
is now completely mute.

Frustrated by my prison,
with thoughts I can't release,
God help the ones who mock me,
the ones enjoying peace.

For when I'm back to normal,
I swear I will repay,
my tongue will do some whipping,
and then they'll rue the day.

Love, love, love this.. tho, of course, sad as sad for you. Your meter is a grand lesson of how to, plus is so wittily worded. Charm and fun truly do go together. Thank you for both. x

Only eight months late Tony. A belated thank you. Sorry.

This is really clever and so well done-I especially liked the mouse without a squeak.
This is publishable-quality writing and I salute you for taking me on this humorous journey.

That's even funnier
my type of Poem Chris, my mother had a tongue like a whip and there were time we all wished she'd lost it.
But she's old now and a lot more mellow. Loved it.

this is one fascinating poem to read because sometimes we appreciate the silence around us despite the hustle bustle of daily life there are times that we have to be silent and be quiet and those are quite rare times actually.

Lol, a woman who can't speak.
Should be a law against it.

But when said voice returns. I sort of see sparks flying.

Exactly the sort of poetry I love, perfect rhyming and a real story, although I would like to know what caused you to lose your voice. As a male I sometimes wish that voice loss by a female can be a blessing!! only joking, loved it and will read more. Rod.
